Why do many households still pay electricity bills after installing solar panels?
We surveyed several bills from households under the NEM 3.0 program and found that, without exception, these families are still paying for electricity!
Why is this the case?
1. Under California’s NEM 3.0 program, for every unit of electricity you buy from the grid, your solar system needs to send four units back to the grid to balance the bill.
2. When the current power generation of the solar panels plus the current battery storage is not enough to meet your current electricity usage, you will end up buying electricity from the grid. This situation occurs frequently, such as on cloudy, rainy days or when charging electric vehicles heavily at night.
3. Solar company salespeople, during the sales process, only emphasize the total annual power generation of their systems. However, they do not inform you that under NEM 3.0, if misused, the actual effectiveness of the total power generated could be halved.
Therefore, unless your home’s solar system is equipped with a sufficiently large battery, under NEM 3.0, to avoid buying large amounts of electricity from the grid, you will need to change your usage habits.
All the above cases are from customers of other solar companies in the current market.
Green Future is not just selling you a solar system; we are also your investment and money-saving advisors!
