For many households, an EV adds several hundred kilowatt-hours per month, and that change matters when sizing solar.

A typical electric SUV may travel about two to four miles per kilowatt-hour, so the monthly charging load depends heavily on actual miles driven.

At around 1,000 miles per month, many households will use roughly 300 to 400 additional kWh for charging. Larger trucks or heavier vehicles can go much higher.

That added demand matters a lot when planning solar or storage. EV adoption can shift the right system size more than people expect.
